Principal Investigators
Shawn Cole
John G. McLean Professor of Business Administration
Shawn Cole is a professor in the Finance Unit at Harvard Business School, where he teaches and conducts research on financial services, social enterprise, and impact investing. Much of his research examines corporate and household finance in emerging markets, with a focus on insurance, credit, and savings. He has also done extensive work on financial education in the US and emerging markets. His recent research focuses on designing and delivering advice and education over mobile phones, with an emphasis on agricultural and financial management. He received a Ph.D. in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2005, where he was an NSF and Javits Fellow, and an A.B. in Economics and German Literature from Cornell University.

Vikram Gandhi
Senior Lecturer of Business Administration
Vikram S. Gandhi is a Senior Lecturer in the General Management Unit and Entrepreneurial Management Unit. He has developed and teaches a new course, Sustainable Investing, in the Elective Curriculum of the MBA Program. He also teaches Leadership & Corporate Accountability and FIELD Global Immersion, and has taught the Entrepreneurial Manager, in the Required Curriculum of the MBA Program. Along with MBA courses, he has taught in various Executive Education programs. In addition, Vikram is a visiting faculty member of Schwarzman College and Tsinghua University, Beijing. He has spent 23 years in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse. He holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School (Class of 1989) where he was designated a Baker Scholar, and a B.Com from the University of Mumbai. He is also a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Jonah Zahnd
Manager of the Project on Impact Investments and the Social Impact Collaboratory
Jonah Zahnd is the Manager for the Project on Impact Investments and the Social Impact Collaboratory at Harvard Business School. Previously, Jonah was a Team Lead at Goldman Sachs where he led contracted projects on market research, competitive intelligence, and people strategy. Before joining GS, Jonah served as a Consultant with Cognoscere on an education development project in Kurdistan and as a Research Analyst for the Cornell Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. Jonah has also worked for the US House of Representatives providing policy analysis and constituent management. Jonah earned his BA in Political Science from Westmont College, graduating in 2.5 years with Pi Sigma Alpha Honors, and his Masters of Science in Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Marcus previously worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in their applied Micro department. Marcus holds a BA with honors in Economics and Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley.
