FASRC Cannon cluster

HBS personnel are able to use the resources at Faculty of Arts and Sciences Research Computing (FASRC) to conduct their research. These include access to larger storage pools and compute resources than are available at HBS. There are costs associate with using these resources. Please contact RCS if you have questions or for a consultation before signing on for a FASRC account and resources.

If you already have a FASRC account and need help, please see their support page, FAQs, or request help via email or their RC Ticket page (login required).

XSEDE

The Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) is the most advanced, powerful, and robust collection of integrated advanced digital resources and services in the world. It is a single virtual system that scientists can use to interactively share computing resources, data, and expertise.

In 2013, Harvard's FAS Research Computing joined the XSEDE project as a Campus Champion. In this role, Research Computing acts as a local source of knowledge about high-performance and high-throughput computing and other digital services, opportunities and resources available through XSEDE and other computing facilities.

HBS faculty are able to take advantage of the advanced computing resources that are available as a part of the XSEDE community. Please contact Bob Freeman if you are interested in or have questions about using XSEDE resources.

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

HBS personnel can use AWS to conduct their research. AWS provides a number of services for its customers, including 'bare metal', unconfigured virtual machines, machine images with preset RAM, CPU, and operating system configurations, machine images pre-configured with software packages, and database hosting.

We advise you to please contact RCS if you have questions or for a consultation before signing on to AWS resources. As AWS can be costly, this consultation will ensure that AWS is the appropriate solution for your research needs.
