Research Computing Platform

The HBS Research Computing Platform (RCP) in the cloud is an innovative new platform designed to support the evolving needs of HBS faculty researchers. Key features of the RCP include:
  • Extensible storage and compute power, including graphics processing units (GPUs)
  • A suite of data science and statistical tools such as Jupyter Notebook, RStudio, Spyder, STATA, and Visual Studio Code, along with cloud-based services like Amazon SageMaker and SageMaker Canvas
  • A project-based interface informed by user experience research, and federated access to facilitate collaboration with team members and external collaborators

If you are interested in exploring whether your research project is a fit for RCP, please see our launch site and contact the Research Computing Services team at research@hbs.edu.

Compute Cluster

The HBS compute cluster (HBSGrid) is an advanced computing environment that provides high-speed, high-capacity computing resources to enable HBS researchers to scale up effectively and efficiently conduct statistical analysis and programming. Please note that all documentation about the HBSGrid has been moved to a self-contained, searchable documentation site here: https://hbs-rcs.github.io/hbsgrid-docs/ .

Other Research Computing Environments

FASRC Cannon cluster

HBS personnel can use the resources at Faculty of Arts and Sciences Research Computing (FASRC) to conduct their research. These include access to larger storage pools and compute resources than are available at HBS. There are costs associated with using these resources. Before signing on for a FASRC account and resources, contact RCS for an overview of usage requirements.

If you already have a FASRC account and need help, please visit their support page, see their FAQs, or request help via email or their RC Ticket page (login required).

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

HBS personnel can use AWS for research following a project review with Research Administration, RCS, and IT. Please contact RCS if you would like to begin the review process. Please reference and be consistent with the Cloud Computing Guidelines.

If you already have have an HBS-issued AWS account, it can be accessed here.

ACCESS

The National Science Foundation's Allocated Production Compute/Storage/Cloud (ACCESS) is an advanced cyberinfrastructure system providing advanced computing and data resources. Access to large-scale computing systems, storage, and other resources are available to researchers and educators.
