HBSGrid Maintenance 9/8

2 SEPTEMBER 2026

This is a reminder that our next maintenance is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, 8 am–12 pm ET.

Access to login nodes, interactive/NoMachine sessions, and Globus nodes will be affected – please plan accordingly.

During the maintenance window:

  • You will not be able to log in to the HBSGrid cluster via terminal or NoMachine.

  • All interactive jobs and NoMachine sessions (connected & disconnected) will be terminated.

  • Globus transfers will be temporarily halted.

What work is being performed and why?

  • We will apply security patches to all nodes in the cluster. These changes ensure the safety and stability of our environment.

We thank you for your patience and cooperation as we make improvements to the HBSGrid. Our next maintenance will occur on Monday, October 5. If you have any questions/comments, please email us at research@hbs.edu.

New on RCP: Claude Code

9 JULY 2026

We're excited to announce that Claude Code, Anthropic's command-line AI coding assistant, is now available as a launcher on the HBS Research Computing Platform (RCP).

What you can do with it:

  • Read, write, and edit files in your project space

  • Run and debug code

  • Get answers to questions about your project

  • Install additional software on demand

Why use it on RCP?

Claude Code runs entirely inside your isolated RCP project space, not your laptop. If it does something unintended — overwrites a file, runs a bad script — the impact stays confined to that environment. It's a safer way to get the productivity benefits of an AI coding assistant without worrying about it reaching beyond its lane.

Getting started:

  1. Have your project owner enable the Claude Code launcher

  2. Launch it from the Workbench tab

  3. Connect, open a Terminal, and type "claude" to begin

Note: Claude Code usage is billed separately and metered by token to your own HBS or personal Claude account.
