Hello! My name is Ahron Oddman, and I’m a first year student at HBS. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, I recently moved to Boston from San Diego. I’ve spent that last nine years in the Marine Corps as an MV-22 Osprey Instructor Pilot, deploying to Iraq for nine months (in addition to other travels) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

My wife, five month old son, and I are very excited for this chapter of our lives. I’m looking forward to developing a foundational understanding of many business disciplines and learning via the case method, in particular. But what I’m most excited for is being challenged by a diverse array of classmates. We’ve only been here for a few weeks, but the synergy has already exceeded my wildest expectations. A reading of the class profile doesn’t quite capture the richness of diversity, nor does it reveal the 2nd and 3rd levels of diversity. For example, you can talk to two classmates from the same company, that worked in the same country, are from the same city, but that have two completely different sets of experiences and aspirations.

I want to start businesses that change communities for the better. In particular, I want to open food markets in neighborhoods with little to no access to affordable, healthy, whole foods. I’m looking forward to working towards this goal over the next two years!

God bless,

Ahron, MBA 2015
