HBS Career & Professional Development (CPD) asked students to describe their career interests and what they are up to this summer.

Current Position:

Business Analysis & Operations Intern

Company and Location:

Stealth Mode Robotics Startup, Somerville, MA

This summer I am working for an early stage and stealth mode robotics start-up in the agriculture space as a Business Analysis & Operations Intern. I am the fourth and the only non-technical employee of the company. After working as a management consultant at Bain & Company for three years, I wanted to explore the start-up world and experience the fast-growing robotics industry first hand. I wanted to go out of my comfort zone and do something “different” than what I had done before. It is at times challenging to work at a very early stage company due to the ever-changing circumstances and hence how everyone needs to do a bit of everything. But at the same time, you get to have significant amount of ownership and control of your work and have significantly more impact on critical business decisions.

So far, I have been working to build an effective go-to-market strategy for the company, working closely with the CEO and Co-Founder. I didn’t have prior experience in agriculture space, therefore I have conducted many interviews with industry experts, academics, potential customers, and attended the nationwide United Fresh Show to learn more. I have recently given my official mid-project update presentation to the two co-founders and looking forward to the rest of the summer where I’ll continue to discover more about agriculture, robotics and how to best serve the needs of this large and highly important industry.
