    • Developing the Plan

Make clear where we stand and where we aim to go

Our action plan begins with a clear position: Harvard Business School rejects racism in all its forms, and anti-Black racism in particular, as wrong and fundamentally inconsistent with our mission and values.

Establish the enduring structures required for the journey ahead

To support our journey toward racial equity, we will establish two structures that will have the focus, authority, resources, and stamina to propel and sustain momentum across HBS.

Attract additional Black talent to all parts of the HBS community

HBS is a partnership among faculty, students, staff, and alumni. We will take direct action to attract Black talent to all four parts of this partnership more fully.

Develop and disseminate research and course material on advancing racial equity in business

Our action plan begins with a clear position: Harvard Business School rejects racism in all its forms, and anti-Black racism in particular, as wrong and fundamentally inconsistent with our mission and values.

Equip our students to become leaders for racial equity

Each of our educational programs has committed to improve how it prepares students and participants to lead in a world of racial diversity.

Engage with the broader business community to promote racial equity.

Harvard Business School has both an opportunity and a responsibility to encourage the pursuit of racial equity widely and strongly. Our initial actions in the broader business community are focused on learning from and alongside others.

Hold ourselves accountable to meaningful, measurable progress

We are taking three steps to hold ourselves accountable for making progress both in the short term and over the long run.

    Developing the Plan

A group of faculty, staff, students, and alumni formed the Dean’s Anti-Racism Task Force and identified work required in seven domains.
