Predoctoral Research Associates are recent college graduates and early career professionals interested in exploring and refining their research skills in preparation for a doctoral program.
The program provides prospective PhD students with the chance to further develop the skills they need to be competitive doctoral applicants. By working closely with Harvard Business School faculty Predoctoral Research Associates (RAs) are exposed to the opportunities and challenges of rigorous academic research, and are guided through the application process by scholars who have been in their shoes.
They apply a variety of methods to a broad range of faculty-led research projects and studies in the areas of management, organizational behavior, finance, strategy, and behavioral sciences. The skills needed for each role are specific to the faculty, but many positions seek RAs with experience in applied econometrics and advanced statistical and computational methods.
In addition to supporting academic research projects and receiving mentorship from faculty, RAs have the opportunity to take graduate-level classes using Harvard's Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). They also participate in programming and events focused on building community and preparing for doctoral applications and studies.
