      Harvard Business School Breaks Ground on Large-Scale Convening Center

      BOSTON—Harvard Business School officially broke ground today for Klarman Hall, a new convening center to be constructed on the Harvard Business School (HBS) campus. Expected to open in 2018, Klarman Hall will combine elements of a large-scale conference center, a performance space, and an intimate community forum where HBS can harness the energy and creativity of the thousands of students, faculty, alumni, and leaders of all kinds who come together at HBS each year for a wide variety of activities, from research conferences to symposia to cultural events.

      Professor Arthur Segel Elected to American Academy of Arts & Sciences

      BOSTON—Arthur I. Segel, the Poorvu Family Professor of Management Practice at Harvard Business School (HBS), has been elected to membership in the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, one of the nation’s most prestigious honorary societies and a leading center for independent policy research. Segel joins 212 other new members of the 2016 Class, which includes winners of the Pulitzer Prize, MacArthur and Guggenheim Fellowships, and the National Book Award. Read more.

      Sanofi Genzyme Donates Corporate Archives to Harvard Business School

      BOSTON—Harvard Business School (HBS) announced today that Cambridge, Mass.-based Sanofi Genzyme, the largest biotechnology company in the state and an innovator in the global biotechnology industry, has agreed to begin donating materials to create an extensive archival collection, spanning the more than three decades since the company’s founding in 1981, to the Historical Collections of HBS’s Baker Library.       Tom Tierney, Cofounder and Chairman of The Bridgespan Group, to Address Graduating Harvard MBA Students on Class Day

      BOSTON—Tom Tierney (MBA 1980), cofounder and chairman of The Bridgespan Group, a nonprofit organization that collaborates with mission-driven leaders and organizations to help accelerate social impact, will be the Harvard Business School’s Class Day keynote speaker on Wednesday, May 25 (the day before the Harvard University Commencement exercises). The ceremony, which will take place on the Baker Lawn on the School’s campus in Boston, will also include a welcome from the co-presidents of the MBA Class of 2016, the presentation of faculty teaching awards, and a student address.
