    Five Remarkable Leaders Receive 2013 Harvard Business School Alumni Achievement Awards

    BOSTON—To cap the first day of orientation, the Harvard Business School MBA Class of 2015 sat down with five outstanding individuals who were being honored with this year’s Alumni Achievement award: Joanna Jacobson, cofounder and managing partner, Strategic Grant Partners; Andre R. Jakurski , founding partner and managing director, JGP Asset Management; Thomas A. James, chairman, Raymond James Financial, Inc.; Thai Lee, president and CEO, SHI International; Roger W. Sant, cofounder and chairman emeritus, The AES Corporation. In a panel discussion led by Senior Associate Dean Robert S. Kaplan in Burden Auditorium, the five honorees offered advice to the 932 first-year students, drawing from their experiences, both at HBS and in their careers. Read more.

      HBS Hosts Annual Summer Venture in Management Program

      BOSTON—“Do you think this idea is brilliant or shocking?” asked Harvard Business School Professor Dennis Campbell, as he taught a case study he had co-authored on Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union, which focuses on empowering employees to put customers’ best interests ahead of either the organization's interests or their own. As a result of this focus, the credit union must determine what to do with its profitable indirect auto lending business, which some see as inconsistent with the strategic direction set by the management team.
