      Sir Ronald Cohen Offers Class Day Advice to MBA Class of 2010

      Before a sun-drenched audience of 901 Harvard MBA candidates, their families, and friends, Sir Ronald Cohen (MBA 1969), cofounder and former chairman of Apax Partners, one of the world's preeminent venture capital and private equity firms, delivered the annual Class Day Distinguished Speaker address yesterday afternoon. Noting that interest in entrepreneurship and venture capital was just beginning to catch on at HBS and elsewhere when he was earning his MBA ("Those were the days of big corporations," he said), he urged graduating students to do all they could to help the causes of social entrepreneurship and social venture capital as these fields gather momentum in the early part of the 21st century.       Harvard Business School Receives City of Boston Green Business Award

      The Harvard Business School Operations Department has received a 2010 City of Boston Green Business Award from Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino. The award was primarily in recognition of the numerous green technologies utilized by HBS at Shad Hall, which features a green roof, photovoltaic panels, a cogeneration unit, and electronic dimming lighting technology.       Six Doctoral Candidates Receive Research Awards

      This year, the Harvard Business School Doctoral Programs have awarded four Wyss Awards for Excellence in Doctoral Research and two Martin Awards for Excellence in Business Economics to six doctoral degree candidates. These monetary prizes are presented annually to outstanding students engaged in innovative dissertation research. Read more.

      Photographic Advertising Exhibit at Baker Library

      A new exhibit, "The High Art of Photographic Advertising:National Alliance of Art and Industry Exhibition," will open today in the Baker Library | Bloomberg Center lobby on the Harvard Business School (HBS) campus in Boston. Organized by the Baker Library Historical Collections, part of the School's Knowledge and Library Services, the exhibit will run until October 9, 2010. Read more.

      Eight HBS Students Honored for Service to the School and Society

      Eight members of the Harvard Business School MBA Class of 2010 have been named winners of the School's prestigious Dean's Award. The recipients, who will be recognized by HBS Dean Jay Light at Commencement ceremonies on the HBS campus on May 27, are Maya A. Babu, Sean A. Cameron, the team of Richard Chung and Philip Wong, John W. Coleman, Robert M. Daly, Jr., Andrew D. Klaber, and Whitney F. Petersmeyer. Read more.
