“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
We all yearn for people to emulate in life. I simply aspire to serve as an example for others. If my life and the way in which I lead it could someday provide inspiration and direction for a handful of others, I would be truly honored and would consider my life successful. My hope is that the people I inspire will, in turn, play a role in serving as a guiding light for future generations after my one wild and precious life has passed.
Professionally, I'd like to serve as an example by demonstrating how work can actually be a noble pursuit. I aim to help those people that I work with achieve great self-gratification from what they do and be excited and proud about their professions. I will strive to improve industries and companies that are themselves examples by developing products that bring great satisfaction to, improve the well-being of, and perhaps even help save the lives of their customers.
For my friends and family, I will serve as an example by being a role model, a trusted friend, and a compassionate father and husband.
When my children are asked, "So, what does your father do?", I hope that they will not reply with "He is the CEO of St. Germain, Inc." but rather
"He's the coach of my baseball team".
And, when asked "What do you want to be when you grow up" they'll casually answer,
"I just want to be like my Dad."
