“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
Life is a marathon I am ready to run. I will retrieve the torch of ministry to serve.
It is as if I can hear the booming voice of my Eternal Sponsor saying, "On your mark!"
Followed by the collective roar of my ancestors, "Get set!"
I will run to inspire the world with my words.
I will pray for stamina to raise the nation's moral conscience. I will exercise personal agility to exert faith through action.
I will strive to help heal the sick and extend resources to the poor.
I will set about the business of building lives and transforming communities.
I will never forget the starting line nor be unmindful of my loving family, friends nor my late Aunt who sacrificed so that I would be able to run.
With each step, I will pave the way for others.
With each stride, I will stretch toward the call of greater responsibility.
If I grunt, please excuse me. Should I stumble, my spirit will recover.
Should my body stiffen, I will seek to be revived. I will run knowing this race is contingent upon my will rather than my speed.
Regardless, I will do my best to remain in my lane and on my course. I will run the race set before me.
The road ahead is filled with lengthy bends, improbable mountains, and tumultuous seasons. Deep in my soul I can hear the resounding call of my destiny beckoning "Go!"
Now, I am ready!
