“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
As I graduate from HBS my goal is not only to lead people, but to lead by inspiring them. Nowadays most people go to work because they feel they need to. I want to lead a large organization where people go to work because they want to, because it excites and challenges them. I aspire to give people in my organization the sense that they can accomplish anything they want. The world needs leaders who inspire people to feel this way, and I dream of being such as leader.
Together with my beloved wife, I also intend to embark on a truly exhilarating, international, culturally diverse journey through life. I dream of strolling through the plains of Africa, tasting exquisite Asian food, and exploding in joy during Brazilian Carnaval. I want my children – two, perhaps three – to be true global citizens. I want them to be righteous, noble, cultured people. I also wish for tranquility... Tranquility to think, to dream, and to savor every minute of this journey – a journey that will ultimately give me a sense of accomplishment and put a huge smile on my face as I grow old.
