“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
As a little girl, I wanted to...
stand on my toes and twirl in the lights … I still do.
be a southern lady like my Alabama grandmothers, who greeted strangers and the garden club with equal graciousness … I still do.

be an astronaut so I could trace the constellations like a dot-to-dot game... I still do.
be the teacher who brought the sparkle of achievement to a student's eye... I still do.

have everyone like me... I still do.
be a role model for my younger sisters but also be cool enough to hang out with... I still do.

marry Prince Charming... I still do.
be a mom who could braid hair, tie bows, cook cupcakes, and play catch... I still do.

love and laugh and dance and play... I still do.
understand why sometimes I felt sad and cried... I still do.
remember that God watches over me.. I still do.

As a little girl, I never dreamed of going to HBS... but I did.
