“Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?”
I shall savor the time I am given, for it is not the destination that makes life meaningful but moments along the way. I want to get married on a beautiful fall day near my love's childhood home on the plains of Virginia. I want to remember the feelings of anxiety, elation, and fear the first time I walk into the office of my own business and to treasure the moment that business signs its first paying customer. I want to be with my parents to see the sun rise and set over the Himalayas. I want to be waiting, camera in hand, when my child takes his first step. I want to be there to celebrate the first graduating class of the elementary school I help build near my family's ancestral village in rural West Bengal. I want to reminisce with old friends about where we have been, where we hope to go, and why we thought it was all going to be so simple.
