“...the case study method has forced me to articulate and defend potential strategies as the key decision maker using considerable input from my classmates.”

Why was getting a business education important to you?

Coming from a consulting background, I was keen to pursue an MBA in order to expand my skill set, particularly in the areas of finance and marketing. I felt it was the pinnacle of potential qualifications and a valuable asset in my chosen career. I was also attracted by the idea of learning in a classroom full of bright individuals from many different backgrounds.

How has your HBS experience shaped your career path?

My Harvard Business School experience has enabled me to transition from consulting to a managerial role. I am fortunate to be taking part in the Harvard Leadership Fellows program as Assistant Vice President of Business Development for a Boston non-profit organization. I very much look forward to contributing to this sector while working with the senior management team.

What are you most looking forward to in your career?

I am excited to manage growing organizations with social as well as economic missions. I hope ultimately to help shape the business environment in my home country of Ireland.

How has HBS prepared you for your new job?

Apart from improving my technical skills at HBS, the case study method has forced me to articulate and defend potential strategies as the key decision maker using considerable input from my classmates. I have also received access to professors, students and alumni from many walks of life, who have taken the time to help me evaluate potential career paths.
