When the email arrived – “HBS SVMP Decision Available Online” – it caught me by surprise. I took a breath and read the message: Accepted! The Diverse Ability Affinity Group (DAAG) has a mission to destigmatize the experience of living with or being the caretaker of someone with a disability. We cherish the unique perspectives that individuals with disabilities bring to every academic, professional, and social setting, and we seek to create more space for their voices to be heard and celebrated. We know that “disability” can mean many different things and feel differently depending on the individual. We welcome anyone who identifies as being part of the disability community, either on a temporary or permanent basis. [...]

The core of the curriculum is a set of five classes open only to students in this program, which go through the design fundamentals and the process of launching a new high-tech venture. And it covers the whole process from the initial need discovery process, through developing the idea, fleshing out the product and the business model, to actually pitching to venture capitalists and getting feedback. When you finish the program, you're in a great position to go out and immediately launch a new tech venture. [...]
