SVMP showed me the unique power of the case method teaching style. I saw firsthand how learning business skills through discussion allowed for more collaborative and inclusive approaches to solving problems.

Selection Criteria

We are looking for students who are curious and interested in making a difference in the world. Participants are selected based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership, and their impact in the community around them. We define leadership broadly - in the form of a student organization, your local church, or soccer team. Examples of leadership and impact in or outside of the college campus environment include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving in student government positions

  • Leading a student association or club

  • Volunteering in under-served communities

  • Working as a Residential Advisor (RA)

  • Being a team captain or other forms of athletic leadership

  • Contributing to a nonprofit organization

  • Spearheading a new initiative related to the community or culture

  • Leading a school research project

HBS is a place that cultivates leaders who are already doing amazing things in their communities and brings them together to refine their skill sets to make an even greater impact.
