In 1924, Chrysler created a car, which bore his name, and offered new innovations to the automobile, including the four-wheel hydraulic brakes and a high compression engine. In 1928, Chrysler purchased the Dodge Brothers Company for its manufacturing facilities, positioning Chrysler to compete with Ford and General Motors for the top spot in the automobile industry. Chrysler retired in 1935, having achieved a #2 ranking for automobile production.
