During his CEO tenure, Dee achieved an 800% increase in revenues (over $3 billion) – moving SmithKline into the upper echelons of major pharmaceutical organizations. He introduced the anti-ulcer medication, Tagamet, which became the largest selling prescription drug in the world in the late 1970’s. In recognition of his achievements, he was elected Chairman of the National Association of Manufacturers in 1985.
