Though his tobacco company had much success with its chewing tobacco products in the early 1910s, it was Reynolds' introduction of the Camel cigarette line in 1913 that was his biggest accomplishment. Though Camel products comprised 2/3 of all cigarette production soon after their debut, Reynolds' increased their popularity by giving them away to World War I soldiers, one of the many advertising schemes that grew Camel into one of the most popular cigarette brands.
