Bloch and his brother, Henry, pioneered the franchise tax preparation business. H & R Block grew impressively throughout the 1960s and 1970s. Richard understood that the tax preparation business is a service industry, and along with his brother, instituted customer-friendly H & R Block offices throughout the United States.
