A geologist by training, Henshaw was not immune to being on the frontline of mine exploration and development. Through his efforts, Homestake became an established provider of uranium. In addition, he personally was responsible for expanding Homestake’s mining operations to include lead and zinc in Missouri and silver in Colorado. His expansion efforts paid off, placing Homestake among the top financial performers of all U. S. companies in the 1970’s.
