Using his Ford automobile as collateral, Wyatt entered the gas distribution and energy pipeline business with $800 in 1955. His tenacity and determination quickly secured gas contracts throughout Texas, and in short order, Wyatt had built one of the largest suppliers of gas in the United States – growing his pipelines from 68 miles to over 17,000 miles. His company became the 50th largest industrial corporation in the Unites States with assets exceeding $10 billion.
