Palevsky was a pioneer in the burgeoning computer electronics industry. His firm was one of the first companies to create a line of compatible and modular computers using components sourced from a variety of suppliers. Scientific Data Systems experienced dramatic growth as it targeted the medical and scientific communities. Its rapid growth caught the attention of some of the larger players in the burgeoning computer marketplace, and SDS was acquired in 1969 for $920 million.
