A prolific entrepreneur, Segel has founded many successful companies including The Franklin Mint and National Software testing Laboratories. His biggest success was the formation of QVC, which stands for quality, value and convenience. Segel formed QVC after watching the phenomenal success of the Home Shopping Network. Believing that he could do better than HSN, Segel introduced a softer sales approach and an expanded customer service function. Though HSN’s success spawned hundreds of “copy-cats,” QVC was its only formidable competitor. Segel built the television shopping network into a multi-billion dollar operation.
