Great American Business Leaders of the 20th Century
Joseph A. Martino
Starting with the company as a 16 year old office boy, Martino went on to transform National Lead into one of the country’s leading industrial producers of lead products and paints. During his tenure as CEO, National Lead was among the top 50 U. S. firms in terms of market value performance. His performance led to his appointment as a commissioner in 1958, and election as chairman in 1969, of the Port Authority for New York and New Jersey.
