- Industry: Utilities & Energy
- Era: 1910
Taking over the debt-ridden firm after it was forcefully spun-off from Standard Oil by the United States Supreme Court, Van Dyke had minimal assets with which to work: only 3 refineries, no marketing structure, and no sales organization. Under Van Dyke’s leadership, however, Atlantic Refining not only expanded its number of refineries, but also created a nation wide transportation and distribution system and set up marketing organizations in Europe, Africa, Australia and South America. By the end of his tenure, Van Dyke had helped grow sales of Atlantic Refining to $131 million.
