Siegel built the once, small boat maker into one of the largest and most powerful media holding companies. Acquiring two independent television stations with the Chris-Craft acquisition in 1968, Siegel sold the boat business in 1980 and pursued a series of shrewd media investments to build the company into one of the top 5 independent chains of television stations in the United States.
