The inventor of the first electronic iron with the unique "Hotpoint" feature, Richardson is credited with laying the foundation for the billion-dollar household appliance industry. Hotpoint's irons were very successful in the early 1900s, owing in large part to Richardson’s cooperation with power companies in promoting the use of electricity for household appliances.
