After making a name for himself in sales at E. Remington and Sons, Seamans and his associates bought the company and eventually merged it into what became Union Typewriter. Under Seamans' leadership, Union Typewriter acquired other business machine producers and grew to become the world’s largest typewriter manufacturer, producing about 80,000 a year in the early 1910s.
