After receiving his Ph.D., Wang began work on a complex memory storage problem, which lead to the development of the first magnetic core memory. Building on this success, Wang went on to set up his own company focused on making business tasks easier. With the success of its LOCI calculator, Wang Labs’ sales exploded. Later products included several lines of sophisticated mini computers and such revolutionary word processing software as the Office Information Systems (OIS) series. By the end of Wang’s tenure, Wang Labs’ revenue had grown to a level of over $1 billion.
