MacMillan was responsible for the expansion of Cargill’s business from $10 billion to $33 billion in 10 years. He diversified Cargill’s scope of activities by introducing it to the consumer market. By the mid-1980s, the firm became the most powerful force in the world grain economy, outstripping all of its European rivals.
