Lewis W. Lehr
In his first year at the helm of 3M, Lehr presided over a major reorganization of the company’s diversified operations into 4 distinct divisions. The new and improved 3M began to focus on quality and innovation, as Lehr invested heavily in research and development, the fruits of which led to, among other things, innovations in the health-care products business. By the end of Lehr’s tenure, revenue at 3M had risen to a level of $8.6 billion with earnings of $779 million.
