The Generation of Cures

Following the loss of Myra Kraft, the Kraft Family Foundation vowed to get better solutions for patients.

Speaking with a number of cure-seeking organizations, they asked a critical question: why aren’t these efforts leading to more advancements? The Kraft Foundation turned to Harvard Business School for an answer, and finding one has been our mission ever since.

We began by pulling in more than 300 business leaders—people from different disease states, industries, and networks—to analyze what was working well in the generation of cures, and what wasn’t. Together, we built a community that tore apart the ecosystem and found new ways to engage patients, leverage data, identify best-in-class clinical trial models, and innovate funding methods. Now, we’re sharing the best practices we uncovered along the way, so others can pick up the playbook to help bring the efficiency of strategic business planning to healthcare.
