We’ll be following guidance from the state and local government as we strive to provide a range of health and wellness offerings to the community.

Shad Facilities

Shad Fitness is now open to eligible members. Reservations are required to use the facility and can be made through shad.hbs.edu (login required). Once on the site, select “Access Reservation” to schedule. Slots will be for 45 minutes and 20 members will be allowed in the facility during each slot. Each member is allowed one 45-minute time slot per, per a day. There have been a number of changes in the facility to help promote physical distancing and further enhance cleaning practices. Showers, saunas, whirlpools, and steam rooms will be closed. Please review all the changes outlined on the shad.hbs.edu site so you know what to expect if you plan to visit the facility.

The building is locked so please remember to bring your Harvard ID card.

Tennis Courts

Tennis courts on the HBS campus are now open to members of Shad Fitness. Reservations are required. You can reserve a court and review new usage protocols on shad.hbs.edu (login required).

Exercise Classes

The Shad team will continue to deliver online content (login required) to the community.

Safety

Shad Fitness has a number of protocols in place to promote safety and healthy practices. Only 20 members are allowed in the facility at once, masks must be worn at all times, equipment has been taken off line to support physical distancing, towel service suspended, and the showers/sauna are closed.

Hand sanitizer and disposable wipes are available throughout the facility. Staff will focus on cleaning high-touch surfaces and disinfecting all equipment between use.

Do I need to wear a mask when I’m working out?
Yes, face coverings and appropriate physical distancing are required at all times inside Shad.

Changes to Expect

Some of the changes you can expect include the following, but please review all the changes outlined on the shad.hbs.edu site:

Reduced Capacity

Only 20 members are allowed in the facility at once and reservations are required via shad.hbs.edu.

Limits on Activities

Activities where physical distancing cannot be maintained are not currently available, including group programming, personal training, basketball, squash, and racquetball.

Additionally, some equipment is turned off to promote social distancing and allow for proper cleaning.

No Whirlpool, Steam & Sauna

The whirlpool/steam room/saunas will remain closed.

No Towel Service

Towel service is currently suspended; members must bring their own towels.

No Rentals

Day use rental equipment service is suspended.
