Accountability
Monitoring & Reporting
Community-Based
All community members model and self-regulate. Gently remind each other of the protocols.
Health & Safety Resource Representatives (HSRRs)
Share concerns or questions with faculty, staff and student HSRRs.
Reported issues will be categorized into one of three levels:
- Colleagues, fellow students or Health & Safety Resource Reps provide gentle policy reminder, offer resources & answer questions
- Administrative Oversight & Coaching: MBA Program (students), Manager / HR (staff), Dean’s Office (faculty)
- Review policies, resubmit community commitment & redo training
- Could result in loss of some campus access privileges (case-by-case basis)
- Existing coaching/disciplinary processes will be utilized
- COVID Accountability Committee review
Campus Access Protocol
While remote work may be the norm for many through the winter and spring, we hope and expect to begin welcoming more members of the community to campus during the coming semester, consistent with guidance as well as the ongoing focus on safety and well-being.
Faculty
Faculty who are teaching and in other ways engaging with students, with personal or family situations that make office use preferable, and who prefer to carry out research work at the School are able to be on campus at this time, assuming the Community Commitment (including training) has been completed. Please contact jcunningham@hbs.edu with any questions.
Staff
Staff should stay in touch with their managers about plans to work on campus; a range of options (e.g., one day a week) may be possible. Additional questions should be directed to coronavirus@hbs.edu.
MBA & Doctoral Students & Partners
All HBS students and partners may come to campus without additional permissions to use public spaces as long as physical distancing is maintained and face coverings are worn. Doctoral students looking to use their offices should email Jen Mucciarone. MBA students with questions should send an email to MBA Student and Academic Services.
Visitors & Guests
Visitors and guests are strongly discouraged from coming to campus at this time. This does not include or apply to partners.
Supporting the health, safety, and well-being of every member of the community is Harvard Business School’s highest priority.
So long as the COVID-19 pandemic affects how we learn, teach, work, and live at the School, Harvard Business School and Harvard University will issue health and safety guidelines for faculty, staff, and students based on federal, state, and local guidance. Though some members of the community may choose not to come to campus, all who do must carefully adhere to these guidelines. Access to campus is a privilege and sustaining or increasing campus activity will require the cooperation and collaboration of us all.
Complete the Process
Each day prior to coming to campus, or before leaving your living space, you must complete your self-attestation using Crimson Clear. Crimson Clear passes are valid for 23 hours. You must have a valid pass while you are on campus.
Please answer the Crimson Clear self-assessment truthfully, if you are unsure about a symptom, choose the one that best describes your condition. If you are not cleared, please do not leave your home. Follow-up with a call to HUHS at (617) 495-5711 and press the * key. You will be prompted to leave a message and a nurse practitioner will return your call in the order it is received. You may consider contacting your healthcare provider to discuss your symptoms.
Completing Crimson Clear every day you are on campus is critical for HBS to be in compliance with State regulations. Some suggestions to help you remember include:
- Associate Crimson Clear with a regular part of your routine for coming to HBS (e.g., "when I grab my Harvard ID or lanyard, that’s a trigger for me to stop and do Crimson Clear"), or keep a note alongside your car keys or MBTA commuter pass
- Be sure to renew Crimson Clear during the day
- Set a daily calendar reminder
- Add a Crimson Clear shortcut to your smartphone
- If you’re an iPhone user, configure an arrival or departure shortcut using Apple’s Shortcuts App
-
Harvard University Health Services (HUHS) will receive a system-based notification from Crimson Clear that an individual has not been cleared. This information will be held confidentially by HUHS. If you are not cleared you need to stay at home. You should not return to campus for 14 days following the resolution of the symptoms
Faculty and staff should alert their manager or unit head and report sick time in PeopleSoft or another Harvard timekeeping system.
Students assigned to an in-person seat in a hybrid classroom should attend class virtually instead for 14 days. If you cannot attend class virtually due to your symptoms, please report your absence.
-
If you filled out a Crimson Clear form incorrectly and received a "Not Clear" status, contact HUHS at 617-495-5711 and request a reset of the submission. This will allow you to complete and submit a new self-assessment.
-
Crimson Clear passes will not be routinely inspected when you access campus though there may be a need to show the pass for participation in specific activities, including to pick-up an unobserved testing kit. Please have your current cleared pass available on your phone whenever you are on campus.
Harvard University Health Services is supporting recurring weekly tests. We have partnered with Color and the Broad Institute to bring you self-administered, unobserved testing. Anyone—students, faculty, or staff—authorized to be on campus more than 4 hours per week should plan to incorporate testing into their campus access protocol. To check your testing cadence in Crimson Clear – select name and Profile, then look under COVID Testing Info > Testing Group. Partners, please see FAQ. More on testing.
