Latest Updates

MBA Students and Partners will be directed to this page for the latest policies and guidelines on health and safety, campus access, and living and learning on campus (all below).

For all the latest on your academic and extracurricular experience – as well as timely links to this site – be sure to bookmark the myHBS dashboard.

Testing

Harvard University Health Services is supporting recurring weekly tests through the self-administered testing program. Anyone authorized to be on campus more than 4 hours per week should plan to incorporate testing into their campus access protocol.

Travel

Generally speaking, personal travel is still discouraged. However, if students do travel, six is the maximum number of HBS community members (students and partners) allowed to travel together overnight without violating Community Values. Any students who travel outside of Massachusetts must follow HBS’s latest quarantine protocol upon return.

Quarantine

All students arriving to move in or returning from outside of Massachusetts must quarantine. Our goal is to reduce the chances of an outbreak of COVID-19 in our community. Please review the quarantine policies for students living in on- and off-campus housing.

Events

Formal, student organization events are currently prohibited, but we hope to resume these as the public health situation allows. Review this page for event planning protocols on and off campus.

Campus Access

All HBS students and partners may come to campus after completing the Campus Access Protocol.

Morning Routine

Complete these steps every day without fail.
  1. Complete Crimson Clear
  2. Put on your mask
  3. Wear your lanyard (with HUID)
  4. Testing day? Do your test and drop it off

You are good to go!

Stay Safe. Protect Others.

Wear a Facial Covering

Always wear a mask indoors and outdoors, except when eating or drinking.

Wash Your Hands

Stay Home if You Feel Sick

If you or a member of your household have COVID-19 symptoms, stay home and note your symptoms in Crimson Clear. A nurse practitioner will call you to discuss your symptoms. If you are assigned to an in-person seat in a hybrid course, you should attend class virtually instead. If you cannot attend class virtually due to your symptoms, please report your absence.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are HBS partners considered Visitors or Guests when accessing campus?
Partners of our MBA and Doctoral students are considered full members of our HBS Community and are treated as students in terms of campus access. They are not considered visitors or guests. Partners coming to the HBS campus are required to follow the guidelines outlined in our Campus Access Protocol. If they haven’t done so already, we also encourage students to register their partners with the MBA and Doctoral program office, even if at this moment the partner does not anticipate coming to the HBS campus. Please contact partners@hbs.edu with any additional questions.
I have a compromised immune system and cannot be near other individuals. What happens if I cannot or do to want to come to campus?

A range of options may be considered, depending on your specific situation, to support your health, safety, and well-being. MBA students should contact Student and Academic Services. Doctoral students should contact the Doctoral Programs Office. Staff should contact their manager or department head. Faculty should contact their Unit Head or program chair.

Someone in my household is at risk and I do not want to come to campus. What should I do?

A range of options may be considered, depending on your specific situation. MBA students should contact Student and Academic Services. Doctoral students should contact the Doctoral Programs Office. Staff should contact their manager or department head. Faculty should contact their Unit Head or program chair.

Will I need to go through any checkpoints when I get to campus?
No, though this may change as Harvard explores testing and monitoring protocols.
What happens if I don’t know my child’s day or school schedule yet and need information on back-up or new care options?

We understand that information about day cares and schools will evolve in the coming months, and that it will vary by school district.

For students: Students are asked to stay in touch with Joyce Majewski (MBA) or Jen Mucciarone (Doctoral) to discuss options.

For faculty and staff: Harvard offers a variety of resources for faculty and staff. To expedite services, please register for support on the Care@Work page, even if you are not certain you will need it.

Is there financial support for dependent care expenses?

The HBS Biddle Fund for COVID-19 Relief (login required) offers financial awards to HBS students experiencing hardship as a result of the pandemic.

Doctoral Students: Doctoral students are eligible for childcare scholarships. For more information and application forms please visit the Harvard Financial Assistance for Child Care site.
