Global Health Care Solutions are the focus of Michael Chu's research and teaching, including businesses serving low-income populations in both emerging markets and developed nations. Chu teaches the second year elective Business at the Base of the Pyramid, a course introduced jointly with Professor V. Kasturi Rangan.

The course provides an understanding of how business can play a significant role in improving the quality of life of low- income individuals and households especially in developing country environments, but also in some developed country situations.

During FIELD, students work in small, diverse teams to help solve customer challenges for Partner organizations. Every year, there are typically several health care experiences.
