International Summit Global Observatory for Genome Editing
Norton’s Woods Conference Center at the American Academy of Arts and Sciences
May 21–31: Biotechnologies are poised to alter the meaning of being human. Genome editing, especially of the human germline, raises fundamental questions of the dignity and integrity of human life. Governance concerns once focused on the escape of lab-created organisms posing risks to health and safety. Today, in a time of heightened skepticism, the most urgent concerns relate to transgressing moral boundaries and understandings of human integrity. The scientific and technological frontier is also a frontier of human values, carrying implications for all planetary life. The Observatory’s 2025 Summit foregrounds these developments and seeks to expand the range of human experience and perspectives that must have a voice in the governance of emerging biotechnologies such as human genome editing. It aspires to craft new foundations for deliberating on emancipatory human futures.

The Role of Unpaid Caregivers in America's Evolving Healthcare System
Virtual
Unpaid caregivers are everywhere and don’t always look like we’d expect. Almost 1 in 2 adults in the US are in a caregiver role, and 23% are sandwich generation, caring for someone over 18 and someone under 18 at the same time. Approximately 45% of caregivers are actually men and half of unpaid caregivers don't even identify themselves under the term "caregiver". The reality is that these unpaid caregivers are a critical part of American Healthcare System, and there is massive opportunity for the system to improve the ways they are identified and supported. For this discussion, we'll explore a number of key topics, including: · What is meant by the term "unpaid caregiver"? Who does that include? What are the challenges they face today and how, if at all, is the system providing them support? · What is the role of the unpaid caregiver in transforming care delivery in America - in making the entire system work fundamentally better? · Finally, what opportunities might exist when it comes to improving support for unpaid caregivers? Date/Time Tuesday, May 27th 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM EST Speakers Alexandra Drane, Co-founder and CEO, ARCHANGELS Dr. Pippa Shulman, Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Medical Officer, Medically Home Moderator: Marcus Osborne, MBA 2007, previously CEO, RightMove
