Middle East & North Africa

  • Understanding Entrepreneurial Opportunity in Kazakhstan
  • Approaching Business with an Artistic Eye
Through its research center in Istanbul and offices in the region, HBS has developed and strengthened its relationships with business and academic leaders in the Middle East, Turkey, North Africa, and Central Asia. These ties help support faculty research and MBA and Executive Education programming, and create opportunities for alumni in the area to engage with each other and with HBS.
Students from the region contribute to the vibrancy of the HBS community and bring their unique perspectives to the classroom.

Understanding Entrepreneurial Opportunity in Kazakhstan

Professor Victoria Ivashina introduced students to the business landscape in her native Kazakhstan through a case she cowrote, “Kaspi.kz IPO,” and an in-class visit by the case protagonist, Mikheil Lomtadze (MBA 2002).

Approaching Business with an Artistic Eye

Yazan Halwani (MBA 2020) pursued an HBS MBA to gain the business skills he needed to further his artistic and entrepreneurial interests, including the launch of his fashion e-commerce company, Darza.
