HBS Global Research Centers

Summer Internship Program

The HBS Global Initiative is anchored by a team based in Boston with more than 70 staff sitting in key regions around the world to contribute to the school’s global strategy and research. We play a critical role in the School’s efforts to build a deep understanding of and expertise in global business practice and innovation. Each summer we host Harvard College interns to assist with the research and non-research activities of these teams. This provides students a wonderful opportunity to learn about both the work of Harvard Business School and business issues in a particular region.

Internships will be fully funded with stipends depending on country and whether the opportunity will be in-person or virtual. Please see details below and note that application deadlines may vary by location.

“Being in Paris was a transformative experience, professionally and personally. On the former, the program's scope was unparalleled. In a single summer, I engaged with over seven diverse cases, delving into industries from a German luxury automobile maker to a French beauty giant and a Spanish eco-friendly fashion label. The research tasks varied as well; from editing interview transcripts between HBS staff and top executives to analyzing IPO reports, carrying out market research, and even participating in a seminar led by an HBS professor who visited Paris. On the personal front, the internship opened my eyes to the richness of French culture and language. I applied to the HBS global initiative because I wanted to broaden my global perspective, and the opportunity surpassed my expectations. I could not recommend a summer with the global initiative more.”

Summer Intern, Europe Research Center

“I had the privilege of working alongside an incredible team of researchers that not only welcomed me warmly in Paris, but also helped me grow both personally and professionally. Throughout my internship, I contributed to the creation of case studies on European startups where I had the chance to delve deep into diverse industries that I was interested in, including generative Artificial Intelligence, Agriculture Technology, and luxury fashion. Each project required an in-depth exploration, pushing me to expand my horizons and sharpen my analytical skills. The ERC team is a diverse group, coming from various countries, which added an extra layer of excitement to our lunch breaks and outside-of-work events.”
