Dan Gilbane is a Lecturer of Business Administration presently teaching Deal Making in Real Estate in the Finance Unit.
Dan is a 5th generation family leader of Gilbane, Inc., a construction and real estate development firms in the industry with a global footprint of 46 office locations around the world and over three thousand employees, generating over $7 billion in annual revenue. Gilbane was founded in 1870 and remains 100% family owned.
As President and Managing Director at Gilbane, Dan leads key strategic areas including profit and loss oversight of Gilbane’s Next 150 subsidiary providing site services, equipment and self-perform workforce, NextDirect, a direct procurement and logistics business, and GRS Disaster Response, an emergency recovery business. He also leads the company’s internal supply chain team and Gilbane’s acquisitions team.
Previously, Dan served as the Division Leader for Gilbane Southwest, with responsibility for construction operations with annual revenues in excess of $1 billion across the southwestern United States and Mexico. Prior to that, Dan was with Gilbane Development Company, helping lead development operations in Texas, serving as development manager for a public/private partnership in a design/build and finance lease-back structure with the Texas Department of Transportation. Prior to joining Gilbane, Dan worked in banking for Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, ING Barings Furman Selz, ABN Amro, and for Morgan Stanley Real Estate Fund.
Dan graduated from Brown University with a bachelor’s degree in international relations and received his MBA from the Harvard Business School in 2005, where he served as a member of the Student Association and is a current member of the Harvard Business School Alumni Board. He is an Eagle Scout.
In addition to his leadership in the construction industry, Dan has been an active community member, serving in industry and civic roles, including non-profit and company Boards (both internal and external), and several school boards. He is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and has completed the Wharton Corporate Governance program and Northwestern’s Kellogg school Governing Family Enterprises program.
