I am interested in teaching topics related to supply chains and retail operations. At Harvard Business School, I have served as a Junior and Senior Teaching Fellow for the first year required Technology and Operations Management course. I have also served as an executive coach in the Program for Leadership Development. My teaching reviews can be found here.
I am a PhD candidate in Operations Management at Harvard Business School. My doctoral adviser is Professor Ananth Raman. My research interests are concerned with empirically examining the effects of automation in retail. In particular, I am interested in how retailers use algorithms to automate two core processes in retail stores: demand forecasting and labor scheduling. My dissertation leverages administrative data from mutliple retailers that have automated both processes to empirically and theoretically study two key questions: (1) What are the effects of automation by use of algorithms? (2) How do, and how should, human managers interact with algorithms?
Prior to Harvard, I obtained an M.A. in Economics from Northwestern University and a B.A in Economics from Simon Fraser University. In addition to research, I have served as a teaching fellow for the Required Curriculum in Operations Management in the full-time MBA program. I have also served as an executive coach in the Program for Leadership Development (Executive Education), and as a teaching fellow in the Executive Education Program at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
