Abstract

This case explores Google leadership's decision to pursue its cloud gaming innovation, Google Stadia, following disappointing early uptake by premium videogamers, the segment of the market that Google had targeted. Google had invested substantial resources and time into building a network able to support the demanding requirements of cloud gaming, and the leaders of the effort are preparing for a meeting with Google's executive team in which they must advocate doubling down on the current strategy, refocusing on the casual gamer segment, or pulling the plug altogether.
