Organization: Managing the Corporation

Abstract
Ongoing management of the corporate portfolio is critical to realizing value in diversified companies. This requires designing and administering structures, systems, and processes appropriate for the set of businesses and the resources that underpin value creation across the portfolio. It concerns the governance of the entity by corporate executives—what are the appropriate size, roles, responsibilities, and authority of the corporate parent? How are business units controlled and coordinated to realize value across the portfolio?
