PRAN-RFL Group: A Diversified Family Business
By: Christina R. Wing, Paul Wuensche and Brittany L. Logan
Abstract
The PRAN-RFL Group was founded in 1980 by Amjad Khan Chowdhury, and grew to become one of the largest conglomerates in Bangladesh in 2023. Throughout the years, Amjad established fast food chains, production manufacturing lines, retail stores, and his own foundation that focused on abolishing poverty and hunger in Bangladesh. After his death in 2015, his son Ahsan Khan Chowdhury took over as CEO. In October of 2023, Ahsan contemplated his retirement and how to keep ownership in the family and ensure that the business continued to flourish. What would be the best way to integrate his two daughters into the company? How should he prepare them to be active owners?
