Abstract

After five successful years, Mission Veterinary Partners (MVP) had to decide on the best way to scale. MVP owned 300 animal hospitals and competed with other consolidators to buy more small veterinary practices. MVP had to distinguish itself as the buyer of choice but did not always have the greatest financial resources. CEO Michael Aubrey had to differentiate MVP in the marketplace, while also tackling other strategic and industry challenges, from high turnover in the veterinary industry and other operational challenges to the pharmacy and lab businesses.
