Fresh Food Generation

Abstract
Instructors should consider the timing of making videos available to students, as they may reveal key case details.
This case highlights one of five BIPOC entrepreneuers in the Boston area as part of the HBS Impact Investment Fund. In fall 2021, a team of HBS students reviewed the financial statements of Fresh Food Generation (FFG), a Dorchester, Massachusetts-based food service provider that they were evaluating for a potential investment from the HBS Impact Fund. FFG Founder and CEO Cassandria Campbell was open to taking an investment from the HBS Impact Fund to scale FFG, including hiring an operations manager, purchasing new kitchen equipment, and exploring the viability of a new business line. Campbell had ambitious plans to grow the company but was worried that the Impact Fund’s investment might be too small to help drive the growth she was looking to achieve. The student team was equally confident that FFG, which expanded the availability of fresh, locally sourced cuisine, met the fund’s criteria for impact.
